MATCH REPORT: Valencia CF turn things around for 3-4 win at Real Sociedad

Guerra's late winner confirms LaLiga survival for the team

Valencia CF's LaLiga EA SPORTS 2025/26 Matchday 37 fixture against Real Sociedad ended in a 3-4 win, confirming the team's top flight survival. Javi Guerra scored twice, with Hugo Duro and Guido Rodríguez also finding the net.

Three minutes into the game, Aihen Muñoz put the home team ahead with a shot from inside the area that hit Nuñez and deflected the ball in, after a cross from the right side by Elustondo.

Five minutes later, Valencia CF equalised after a great move between Jesús Vázquez and Javi Guerra. The latter received the ball inside the opposition penalty area and placed it into the far corner past Alex Remiro, making it 1-1.

After a few minutes of dominance in possession by Valencia CF, they scored their second goal after a great team move, finished off by Hugo Duro off an assist from Cömert.

A chance for a third goal came off a counter-attack when Diego López took the ball from the Real Sociedad defence, but the Asturian winger misplaced his pass to Hugo Duro.

After thirty minutes, Real Sociedad had two dangerous chances to level: The first with a shot from Óskarsson from outside the area that went over the crossbar, and a second, from the feet of the former Valencia CF player Carlos Soler, who shot from inside the area into the side netting.

Shortly afterwards, Dimitrievski was required to make a great save from Óskarsson's shot.

SECOND HALF

The restart took place under torrential rain. Valencia CF came out pressing high up the pitch, quickly winning back possession constantly. In the 53rd minute, they threatened with a through ball to Diego López, but the striker couldn't finish off the chance.

In the 60th minute, Real Sociedad levelled after a cross from Pablo Marín that Tárrega attempted to clear, but was turned into his own net to make it 2-2.

Valencia CF responded with a shot from Diego López that went off target. However, on a counter-attack, Óskarsson scored the third goal for the Txuri-urdin, taking the score to 3-2.

In the 70th minute, Valencia CF were reduced to ten men after Cömert fouled Pablo Marín. As a reaction, Ramazani, Sadiq, Thierry Correia and Pepelu came on as substitutes.

Valencia CF tried to equalize with a shot from the Ramazani from outside the box, which missed the target. Guerra then came close to scoring, but Remiro made a fine save from the midfielder's powerful toe-poke.

Late on, in the 89th minute, Guido Rodríguez equalised with a forceful header after a corner taken by Almeida. He went on to make a brilliant interception of a dangerous cross from Guedes.

Deep into stoppage time, in the 94th minute, Valencia CF had a counter-attack that sent the ball to Thierry, and the Portuguese full-back passed it back to Javi Guerra. The midfielder conjured up a great goal to hand his side a fantastic 3-4 win.

The final game of the season takes place at Mestalla against FC Barcelona, on Matchday 38.
